Generations in the making:

from sheep to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

For five generations, our family has been farming in Marlborough, beginning way back in 1848, when our forebears first arrived in the region.

The beginnings of Jeffries Family Estate as it stands today came in the 1910s, when a parcel of land was purchased at Dillons Point, close to the region’s windswept east coast. Three generations of Jeffries put their mark on the land, farming sheep and cattle and growing crops and pasture, before its potential for growing premium Marlborough wine became clear.

Current family patriarch Tom Jeffries, together with his wife Suzanne, planted the first grapes on the Jeffries Family Estate in 1999.

They continue to work alongside their children and grandchildren to grow top-quality Marlborough sauvignon blanc today. In 2024, the first members of the sixth generation of the Jeffries family planted their own grapes on the plots.
